FSHD Society Website

Disclosure: This work was created and developed for Jigsaw / C.O.nxt while employed as full-time salaried staff. I was not hired directly by FSHD Society. My role was part of a larger collaborative team at the agency. This project is simply included as part of my personal portfolio to demonstrate my capabilities in an agency setting.

This website was built as a from-scratch WordPress theme because the client’s previous site build, using a page builder of some flavor, was simply too hard to maintain. I took that to heart and developed a custom admin to simplify content management.

Accessibility

For a community affected by Facioscapulohumeral Muscular Dystrophy (FSHD), accessibility isn’t just a feature—it’s essential. Many users experience limited mobility or dexterity, which can make navigating digital spaces challenging. With that in mind, I built the FSHD Society website to meet high accessibility standards, ensuring that everyone—regardless of physical ability—can easily engage with resources, research, and community programs.

Just wanted to share that I interviewed an 80-year-old supporter who lives with FSHD and he started the call off by RAVING about the new website, which it sounds like he is tediously combing through. He said for years he’s been hoping and wanting the site to be easier to navigate and information easier to find and THIS does just that. He said it’s “amazing” and “covers all the stuff.” He said that access to knowledge is so important and that when he was diagnosed it was in the 60s and 70s and it was really hard to find information and he’s happy that’s not the case for folks anymore. Job. Well. Done.
